The Idea for BloombleBee Cut Flowers

Approximately 80% of cut flowers sold here in the United States are imported. These imported flowers have mostly been greenhouse-grown, chemical sprayed for disease and pests, stored and shipped long distances. Fortunately, the local cut flower farming movement is real and growing in the United States. Small-scale cut flower farmers are popping up all over, and they are working hard to bring super-fresh, long-lasting, chemical-free cut flowers to their communities.

The idea for BloombleBee Cut Flowers was born in the late summer of 2022, before I knew cut flower farmers existed. At that time, I just wanted to surround myself with more flowers. While researching how to set up no-till flower beds, I stumbled upon several successful flower farmers. Many of them were women who were already doing what I wanted to do- growing flowers. With these successful pioneers in mind, BloombleBee Cut Flowers came to be. In October 2022, with some cardboard and some organic soil, I set up what are now my planting beds. My hope is to provide you with fresh, long-lasting, gorgeous flowers while enriching the native soil and avoiding chemical fertilizers and toxic pesticides.

In 2024, I am starting my second full year as a cut flower farmer. This year, I will offer a late summer subscription bouquet membership and plan to open my online shop for purchasing soon.

Simply put, flowers make me smile. Studies have proven that this is a universal reaction to flowers regardless of age. It is my sincere hope to increase your happiness by providing you with beautiful, locally grown flowers.

Join me as I navigate my way through my second year as a cut flower farmer.

Thank you! -Debbie
